Brian Armstrong
Sports Anchor

Brian Armstrong joined WHIZ as a reporter in June 2017. Before starting at WHIZ, Brian interned with the Orlando City soccer team in Florida.

Brian attended college at Mansfield University in Pennslyvania and received a B.S. in Communications. He then continued his education at Syracuse University where he earned his Masters in Broadcast Digital Journalism.

Brian also previously interned with ESPN in Bristol, CT.  When Brian is not working he is watching sports or riding roller coasters. His “Claim to Fame” is riding the ‘Incredible Hulk’ roller coaster in Orlando more than anyone else in its first year of operation. He has been on the coaster more than 2,000 times.

Ian Kress

Ian Kress is a Michigan native and a graduate of Michigan State University. He is a sports reporter and anchor for WHIZ-TV and started in September of 2019. Having studied sports journalism at MSU, Ian got a lot of his broadcasting experience from an internship at WLNS-TV in Lansing. He covered all Michigan State athletics as well as the local high schools in the Lansing area. It was at his internship where, Ian realized he wanted to get into the local television business. Being able to tell the story of a local athlete is what makes this job enjoyable for Ian. In his free time, Ian enjoys working out and hanging out close friends. David Kinder
David Kinder is the football and basketball voice of the Muskingum Valley League for WHIZ Radio. David is a Columbus native who attended Otterbein University. While a senior in 2015 he started doing play-by-play for the MVL Game of the Week on WHIZ Radio. After college David started working full-time as a news reporter and anchor. Shortly after that he became the WHIZ-TV Sports Director, a position he held until 2018. David now works full time for WKYC, the NBC TV station in Cleveland. He still broadcasts the MVL Game of the Week on WHIZ Radio and is the host of High School Football Weekly. In his five years broadcasting games for WHIZ, David has been behind the mic for over 250 games. Some of his favorite memories include calling John Glenn’s basketball state championship win in 2016 and Tri-Valley’s 2017 appearance in the football state title game.
