Ruth J. “Ruthie” Mc Laughlin (February 7, 1934 – January 30, 2011)

Ruth “Ruthie” J. Mc Laughlin, 76, of Blue Rock and Zanesville area, died at 10:30 PM Sunday January 30, 2011 at her residence following a long illness.

Ruthie was born February 7, 1934 in Zanesville the daughter of William F. and Alice Madinger Canter. She was former owner of Ruthie’s Bridals and along with her husband Charlie farmed the land where they lived. A lifetime member of First Christian Church she was a Sunday school teacher, junior church leader, leader of Junior Chi Rho, church choir and chime choir and always willing to help with cooking the church dinners. Ruthie was a member of the Farm Bureau where she was Information Chair. She was awarded the Distinguished Service Ward for her dedication and commitment to the Farm Bureau for over 50 years. She was always willing to lend a helping hand, encourage others to participate and continually promoted agriculture in a positive way.

A dedicated hospice volunteer, Ruthie shared her talent of making people laugh as a Zaney Follies cast member. The characters she brought to life on stage have delighted audience members of all ages since 1996. She also shared her creative side working in set design for the Follies. Her incredible sense of humor, friendship, and leadership will be greatly missed by her Follies Family.

Ruthie is survived by her husband of 52 years Charles “Charlie” Mc Laughlin, sons: Andy (Lorraine) Mc Laughlin of Meridian, MS and Bill (Kim) Mc Laughlin of Blue Rock, daughters: Cindy (Jeff) Baker of Zanesville and Deanna McLaughlin and fiancé Bernhard Haak of Philadelphia, PA, 7 grandchildren: Ian, Andrea, Amanda and Amber Mc Laughlin, Lauren and Levi Baker and Chris (Angie) Jones, 3 great grandchildren: Trent, Garrett and Nathan Jones.

A gathering of friends and family will be 4:00 PM – 8:00 PM Wednesday February 2, 2011 at the Bryan & Snider Funeral Home 2318 Maple Ave. Zanesville, OH.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday February 3, 2011 at First Christian Church 3000 Dresden Road Zanesville, OH.
