Roy V Armbrust (March 3, 1916 – August 31, 2011)


Roy V Armbrust, 95 of Zanesville formerly of Tally Avenue died 3:40 AM Wednesday, August 31, 2011 at Emeritus at North Hills. He was born Friday, March 03, 1916 in Zanesville the son of Nicholas B. Armbrust and Alice M.(Flowers) Armbrust.
He was a member of St. Nicholas Catholic Church . After graduating from Saint Nicholas High School in 1934, Roy completed his apprenticeship at the Zanesville Mould Company. From 1939 to 1946 he worked as a machinist at Wright Patterson and Lockbourne Air Force Bases. He then returned to Zanesville Mould and retired following many years of service. He served as a substitute teacher for the Machine Shop at the Mid East Ohio Vocational School for five years following his retirement. He also owned and operated Armbrust Printing Company. He has the distinct honor and pleasure of being the carrier of the oldest union member card in the county. Roy was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 505 and the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 302..

Roy is survived by three daughters: Judy Spiker, Janet (Terry) Ryan and Nicki Campbell all of Zanesville; seven grandchildren: Sharon (Dana) Erichsen, Bob (Connie) Nutter, Jeff (Tresa Morrison) Campbell all of Zanesville; Mindy (Eric) Leonard and Chris (Roseanne) Ryan both of Cincinnati; Wendy Doudy of California and Nichole Hogg of Georgia and ten great grand children.

In addidtion to his parents, Roy was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 63 years: Mary Louise (Lanning) Armbrust who died August 28, 2003; three brothers: Amby, Jim and Jack Armbrust; one sister: Julia Shiplett and two grandchildren: Marcia Ryan and Randy Nutter.

Friends may call at the Hillis & Hardwick Funeral Home, 935 Forest Ave from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, September 6, 2011. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at the St. Nicholas Catholic Church with Fr. Martin Ralko as celebrant. Burial will follow in the Greenwood Cemetery. Memorial contrbutions may be made to St. Nicholas Catholic Chruch, 925 Main Street, Zanesville, OH 43701 in Roy’s memory.
