Rebecca Marie Brown, 74, of Newark, Ohio, went home to be with the Lord on the evening of Friday, July 15, 2022. She was born on September 16, 1947, in Zanesville, Ohio to the late Barnard Brown, Sr., and Georgianna (Alexander) Brown Jones.
A graduate of Zanesville High School, Becky worked at the Newark Air Force Based for several years. She loved crafting, cooking and baking, especially her famous fudge.
Becky was loved by all. She loved to have a good time! Her life was full of fun, laughter, and good food. Becky loved her family, especially her children, grandchildren, and her beloved pet, Stormy Storm (her handsome man). Becky called all her loved ones “honeybun.” She was a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, great-aunt, friend, and neighbor. To know Becky was to love her, because she met no strangers. Becky fought the good fight until her last breath.
Becky was preceded in death by her father, Barnard Brown, Sr.; her mother, Georgianna (Alexander) Brown Jones; her daughter, Lonetta Hampton; one grandchild, Ayinna Bailey, one brother, Maurice “Reese” Jones; one niece, Chelsea Jones Crisp, and one great nephew, Tito Crisp.
Becky leaves to cherish her memories the follow family members: the father in her life, Sylvester “Bubba Sunny” Jones; son, Ray Allen Hampton Brown; daughter, Michelle Brown; son, Lamont Bailey Brown; and son, Dangelo “Danny” Bailey, Jr. Her grandchildren include: D’Anthony “Mook” Brown; Malik “Leek” Bailey; Mahayla “Princess” Bailey; Dangelo “Tux” Bailey, III; Lexxus “Baby Doll” Bailey; Zavi “Vi” Bailey; Merreno “Tattoo” Bailey; Monte “Mann” Bailey; Zariah Bailey; D’Ares “Mann Mann” Bailey; and Lannon “Lil Mann” Bailey. Her siblings include: Magdaline (Brown) Sellers; Barnard (Cora) Brown, Jr.; Ellen Brown; Beverly (Justin) Sowers; Sylvester (Wanda) Jones; Eugene Jones; Sonya Jones; James Jones; Christine Jones; Coressa (Larry) Key; Carmen Jones Edwards; Michael (Cheryl) Jones; and Timothy (Danielle) Jones. She also leaves behind a host of nephews, nieces, great-nephews, great-nieces, cousins, and friends, as well as special friend, James Carter.
You may call on the family Friday, July 22, 2022 from 12 p.m. until 1 p.m., with funeral service to follow at 1 p.m., at Burrell Funeral Services, in Zanesville, Ohio. Becky’s beloved nephew, Martinez Sellers officiating. Per Becky’s wishes, cremation will follow. A repass meal following the services will be held at The VFW, 1318 Putnam Ave., in Zanesville.
