Phyllis E. ”Cork” Gray (September 1, 1940 – February 23, 2011)


Phyllis E. ”Cork” Gray, 70 of Zanesville died 5:15 PM Wednesday, February 23, 2011 at her residence surrounded by her family and friends.

She was born Sunday, September 01, 1940 in Zanesville the daughter of Robert K. and Margaret D. (Steil) Nicol.

Cork was a member of St. Nicholas Catholic Church, a retired beautician and a loving and caring wife, mother and grandmother.

Cork is survived by three children: Tim (Kim) Gray of Powell Rob (Amy) Gray of Westerville and Ann (Dave) Johnson of Zanesville; seven grandchildren Jennifer Dillehay, Lyndsey Johnson, Sasha Johnson, Megan Gray, Elaine Gray, Kloie Johnson, & Ava Gray, two great grand children Leo Dillehay and Nora Dillehay; two sisters: Marilyn Englehart of Zanesville and Sally (Mike) Sergio of Pickerington.

In addition to her parents, Cork was preceded in death by her husband: Thomas S. Gray who died on December 16, 1991 and a sister Nancy Davis.

Visitation will be held from 2-4 & 6-8pm with Christian Vigil Service at 7:45pm on Sunday February 27th at the Hillis & Hardwick Funeral Home, 935 Forest Ave.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 AM on Monday, February 28, 2011 at St. Nicholas Catholic Church 925 East Main Street Zanesville with Father Martin Ralko as celebrant. Burial will conclude in the Mt. Olive Cemetery Zanesville.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the American Diabetes Association or the Bishop Rosecrans Foundation.
