Patrick “Pat” E. Hemmer

Patrick “Pat” E. Hemmer, 65 of Zanesville, died 3:46 AM, Sunday, July 3, 2022, at the James Cancer Hospital following a seven week illness.  He was born Saturday, April 6, 1957, in Zanesville, the son of Edward J. Hemmer and Eleanor (Gribben) Hemmer. He married Tammy (Sieliet) Hemmer on Saturday, October 17, 1981, and was a member of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church.

 

Pat graduated from Rosecrans High School and retired from the United States Postal Service as a Rural Mail Carrier following over 31 years of service. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, and was a very active member of West Muskingum Athletic Boosters.

 

He enjoyed traveling, especially vacationing with his family and friends. Pat enjoyed sports and following his children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews in all their sporting events. Pat was a Green Bay Packers fan and owner, and loved Jimmy Buffet.

 

He had a great sense of humor, enjoyed telling stories and always had a smile. Pat was a loving and caring husband, father, grandfather and brother who will be missed by all who knew him.

 

In addition to his wife Tammy, Pat is survived by two sons, Todd (Emily) Hemmer and Matt (Lisa) Hemmer both of Zanesville; four grandchildren who knew his as “Pops”, Kenzie, Jillian, Eleanor and Charlie Hemmer; “3rd son”, Brandon (Misty) Harris and their children, Addison and Anna Harris; one sister, Dr. Kaye (Dr. Sasan Rahmatian) Hemmer Riolo of Fresno CA; brother-in-law & sisters-in-law, Travis (Heather) Sieliet of KY, April Gutridge of Nashville, TN and Heather (Scott) Comstock; nieces and nephews, Elizabeth (Trent Stringer) Riolo, Andrew Riolo, Kendra (Trey) Lucas, Julia (Lakkin Amspaugh) Gutridge, Lydia (Dakota Watson) Gutridge, Greg Comstock, Lance (Corina Kain) Comstock and Tanner Sieliet; his mother-in-law, Jane Harrier; a special four legged family member, Zoey, and special aunt, Sue Edwards and family .

 

In addition to his parents and their siblings, Pat was preceded in death by fathers-in-law, Robert Sieliet and William Harrier; uncle, Lou Edwards and Chuck and Dola Todd.

 

Friends may call Friday, July, 8, 2022, from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 PM, at the Hillis, Combs & Nestor Funeral Home, 935 Forest Avenue, Zanesville. To celebrate Pat’s life, the family requests everyone to wear bright colors/tropical attire. Funeral Mass will be celebrated 10:30 AM, Saturday, July 9, 2022, at St. Nicholas Catholic Church, 945 East Main Street, Zanesville, with Fr. Jan C.P. Sullivan as celebrant. Pat will be laid to rest in Mt. Olive Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Muskingum Animal Shelter Society in Pat’s memory.
