Michael A. “Tony” Bowen, Sr.

Michael A. “Tony” Bowen, Sr., 71, of Columbus, passed away Saturday, November 20, 2021, at Genesis Hospice, at 2:20 a.m. Michael was born August 26, 1950 in Xenia, Ohio to William and Mary Norris, Sr., before the family moved to Zanesville. In addition to his parents, Michael is preceded in death by Sheronda, Danny, Armon, Lamont, Shamika and Arnitra.

Michael leaves to cherish his memory, his beloved children, Michael Bowen, Jr., Jeffrey Bowen, Nechele Bowen, Christopher Bowen, Clint Bowen and Nikita Bowen; step-children, Brandon Harney, Sr. and Eric Harney, Sr.; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; siblings, William Norris, Jr., Jeffrey Norris, Linda Norris, Yvonne Edwards, Sheila Woods, Jessica Norris, twin sisters Jan and Fran Clayton and Vivian Lewis; many nieces and nephews; and a host of other family and friends.
Michael had dedicated employment to Zanesville Memorial Park and Core Molding in Columbus, among many other jobs. He was skilled in janitorial maintenance work. After taking his retirement at age 65, he continued to work various jobs. Michael was a graduate of Zane State College.
He loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. In his free time, Michael often enjoyed rides on his motorcycle, traveling or shopping for clothing. He loved to cook, and enjoyed baking cakes. Michael especially loved a good plate of chicken wings. He never met a stranger, talking to everyone he would meet. Michael was loved by everyone he met. He will be greatly missed.
You may call on the family Monday, November 29, 2021 from 11 a.m. until 12 p.m., with funeral service to follow at 12 p.m., at the Anchor Church, 1365 Chamberlain St., where Michael loved to worship. Pastor Aaron Bounds officiating. Per the family’s wishes, cremation will follow. BURRELL FUNERAL SERVICES is serving the family.
