Mary Ellen Coleman (June 2, 1920 – September 28, 2011)

Mary Ellen Coleman, 91, of Zanesville, passed away September 28, 2011 at Emeritus at North Hills in Zanesville. Mary was born June 2, 1920 to the late Ernest and Nina Gordon Thornton. She was employed by Mosaic Tile Company also, she and her husband, Clarence ”Shorty”, owned and operated Coleman’s Dairy Isle on Linden Avenue. Mary was a member of Central Trinity United Methodist Church and their Women’s Society, Wide Awake Sunday School Class and Philo-Duncan Falls Home Makers.
Mary is survived by her son: Chet & Jenny Coleman of Zanesville, her sister Virginia Jolly of Michigan; three grandchildren Katie Coleman, Erin Scott and Ian Scott and one great granddaughter Kalynn Oliver.
In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her husband Clarence D. “Shorty” Coleman, Sept 2, 2003; brothers: Howard, Fred, Charlie Thornton & Everett Williams and a sister Helen Pierce.

Calling hours will be 1-3 P.M., Monday , Oct. 3,2011 at THE SNOUFFER FUNERAL HOME, 1150 W. MILITARY RD., ZANESVILLE. Funeral Service will follow at 3 P.M officiated by Rev. Tom England, Rev Charles E. Titko and Rev. Maurice Bailey. Burial will follow at Zanesville Memorial Park.
