Mary Elizabeth Dutro (January 21, 1927 – March 8, 2011)


Mary Elizabeth Dutro, 84, of Zanesville, died 6:10 AM Tuesday, March 8, 2011
at Emeritus at North Hills. She was born Friday, January 21, 1927 in Blue Rock Township, the daughter of Edgar Ward and Dessie (Maxwell) Ward. Mary graduated from Rennersville High School in 1945. She married M. Robert “Chief” Dutro on November 25, 1948, and was a member of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church.

Mary was a title researcher for the Clinton Oil Co., a homemaker, a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was a kind hearted women with a special place in her heart for animals. Her favorite recreation was camping with the family.

Mary is survived by three sons: Paul D. Dutro of Garmisch, Germany, Robert M. (Jane) Dutro of Lancaster, New York and Franz D. (Renee) Dutro of Tiffin, Ohio; a daughter-in-law, Deitra Dutro of Richmond, Kentucky; a foster daughter, Rita Swope of Zanesville; a friend and caregiver during her final years, Marsha Marsh; 8 grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her husband: M.
Robert “Chief” Dutro who died May 12, 1998; one son: Fritz P. Dutro; four
brothers: Francis, Walter, Dick & Bill Ward; one sister Betty Dunmead, and one grandchild.

Friends may call Friday March 11 from 5:00 to 7:30 PM at The Hillis & Hardwick Funeral Home, 935 Forest Avenue with a Christian Vigil Service at 7:15 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:30 AM Saturday at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church with Fr. Pius Pietrzyk, O.P. as celebrant.
