Marie Knox, 97, went to be with our Lord on Tuesday, February 15, 2022 at 2:15am. She was born on April 21, 1924. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Knox, parents William and Helen Campbell, brothers Charles, George, and Robert, son-in-law Gene Barkhurst, and numerous friends.
While living in McConnelsville, she worked at Malta Manufacturing for a few years and then took a job in Zanesville before moving there at Essex Wire and then another plant. She spent her last years working at United Technologies before retiring. After her husband passed away, she was not content to stay at home. She started with being a greeter at Kroger and ended her working career at Lowes as a senior cashier at the age of 83. She was a member of Order of the Eastern Star for 66 years.
She was an avid cookie baker and always shared the thousands of cookies she baked with family, friends, co-workers, and neighbors.
She got the opportunity to do something she always wanted—she went to Europe and visited five countries. She was most proud of her great-granddaughter, Ashley, for attending college, getting her Master’s degree, and becoming a teacher.
She is survived by her daughter, Linda Barkhurst of Reynoldsburg, granddaughter Tracie Barkhurst, and great-granddaughter Ashley Shelton.
In lieu of flowers, please donate to a local hospice or animal shelter in Marie’s memory.
Visitation will be held from 11:00am to 1:00pm on Wednesday, February 23 at the Snouffer Funeral Home, 1150 West Military Road in Zanesville, Ohio. Funeral services will follow at 1:00pm. Burial will follow at Glen Rest Cemetery in Reynoldsburg.
