Lester Eugene Hurst

Lester Eugene Hurst, 96, of Roseville, Ohio, passed away on Thursday, March 2, 2023, following a lengthy illness, in the house he and his wife Kathleen built. Lester was born February 15, 1927, son of the late Worley E. and Ethel V. (Wamack) Hurst, Sr. in Perry County, Ohio. In addition to his parents, Lester is also preceded in death by his loving wife of 72 beautiful years, Kathleen Ann (Drake) Hurst. Lester is also preceded in death by three brothers; two brothers-in-law; and two sisters-in-law.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his four cherished children who loved their father deeply, Cheryl Ann (Frank) Saab, of Duluth, GA, Daryl E. (Karen) Hurst, of Philo, OH, Caryl Kathleen (Steve) Lattimer, of Dresden, OH, and Teryl Leslie (Bruce) Todd, of Jackson, AL. These four children blessed Lester and his late wife Kathleen with 13 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Lester is also survived by his sister, Francis Davis; brother, Dan (Keitha) Hurst; and a sister-in-law, Sarah Hurst.
Lester loved what he did in his life, providing for and teaching his family how to live this life, so they can look forward to the next life. He led a full life and along with his wife owned Hurst TV of Roseville, Ohio. Lester served in the US Army during WWII and went on to retire from the Newark Air Force Station after 23 1/2 years of employment. He also preached for many different Church of Christ congregations. Lester was a strong Christian man, a loving husband and father. A man who was known by and friend to many and will be truly missed. The example that was set by the life he lived is one to be followed.
You may call on the family Tuesday, March 7, 2023 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m., at Burrell Funeral Services, 414 LaSalle St., in Zanesville. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 8, 2023, at 11 a.m., at the Norval Park Church of Christ, 845 Arch St., in Zanesville. An additional hour of visitation will be held prior to services, beginning at 10 a.m. Son, Daryl Hurst officiating. Lester’s body will be laid to rest at the Rose Hill Cemetery, alongside his lifelong companion and beloved wife, Kathleen Ann, but his soul walks with The LORD.
