Leroy Pulliam, 85, of Zanesville, Ohio, passed away Monday, February 6, 2023 at Genesis Hospital. Leroy was born August 1, 1937 in Toccoa, Georgia, son of the late Thermon and Lois Pulliam. In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by his former wife Lillie; brothers Talmadge, Harold and James Pulliam; as well as a sister, Lula Johnson.
LeRoy is survived by his children Valeria Watson, Darrell Pulliam and Kevin Pulliam; adopted in heart daughter, and granddaughter, Linda Sharrer and Krystal Swartz; he is also survived by grandchildren Tamika, Roland, Kevin Jr., Stacy, Craig, Whitney, Raymond, Demetri, and Darrin; a host of great-grandchildren; sisters, Reba Holmes, of Cary, NC, Mary Wiley, of, Morris Plains, NJ, and Vera Alston, of Morristown, NJ, who joined him in death two days later; also surviving LeRoy are a host of nieces and nephews and a multi-generational relationship with the Swartz Family.
He lived in Toccoa until early adulthood and graduated from Whitman Street High School. LeRoy was employed by the Salvation Army for many, many years where he helped build on the shelter and became the Shelter Manager. After retiring from the Salvation Army, Leroy was not a person that liked to stay idle. He went on to work for Zane Zenith for an additional eight years. LeRoy loved watching Ohio State football and the Cleveland Cavaliers. He will be missed by many. Per the family’s wishes, cremation has been chosen and no services will be observed at this time.
