John R. Huhn

John R. Huhn, 84 of New Concord, formerly of Cumberland, passed away peacefully on February 8, 2022, at the Beckett House of New Concord after a long battle with Dementia.

John was born on August 9, 1937 on his family farm in Cumberland, Ohio. He is the son of the late Harry H. and Margaret E. (Moore) Huhn. John was a graduate of Cumberland High School, and a member of the Cumberland United Methodist Church. John was a farmer all of his life, and after he married his late wife, Jackie A. (Dawson) Huhn, on January 30, 1966, they owned and operated a farm that bordered his childhood home/farm. He worked at Malta Manufacturing and Production Well Service and retried from International Converter. He was a former Spencer Township Trustee. John enjoyed farming, round and square dancing, Bluegrass, and good Country Music. He and his late wife, Jackie, who passed away on October 13, 1991, were well-known for their round and square dancing style. He was a very proud “Papaw” to his grandchildren, Dalton, Jackie, and Levi Huhn. He enjoyed supporting them in all activities, especially showing club lambs and breeding sheep at the Ohio State Fair and the Guernsey County Fair.

John is survived by his son, Ted Huhn of Cumberland; his daughter, Tammy (Dan Clodfelter) Huhn, of Byesville; his grandchildren, Dalton (Dakota Clark) Huhn, Jackie Huhn, and Levi Huhn, all of Cumberland, Ohio; his sister, Dorothy Starr, of Roseville, formerly of Chandlersville; his brother, Dana Huhn, of Utica; his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Logan (Vicki) Dawson, Clayton (Debbie) Dawson, Carolyn “Cay” Larrison, all of Cumberland, Ohio, and Sharon Dawson of New Concord, Ohio; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In addition to his parents and his wife, John is preceded in death by his brothers, Ralph Huhn, Jesse Huhn, Frederick “Dale” Huhn, and Robert “Bob” Huhn, as well as an infant sister, Mary Alice Huhn.

Visitations will be from 11 am to 1 pm on Monday, February 14, 2022, at the Farus Funeral Home of Cumberland, 343 W. Main Street, Cumberland, 43732, where funeral services will be held following visitations at 1 pm. Pastor Keith Taylor will officiate the service. John will be laid to rest next to his wife, Jackie in Cumberland Cemetery.
