Janie Crotty (June 26, 1926 – May 6, 2011)

Janie Crotty age 84 of Columbus, formerly of Zanesville, died Friday at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus.
She was born June 26, 1926 in Floyd County, KY to the late Chippie and Sybil Johnston Chullen.

Janie had worked as a waitress at Holiday Inns and Shoney’s. She had attended St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church and was a former commander of the women’s auxiliary of the D.A.V. for several years. Janie was quite the philanthropist by giving what she could afford to a wide variety of charities.

She is survived by a son, Jim (Katrina) Conway of Columbus; daughter, Rose (Larry) Grove of Columbus; Step-son, James Crotty of Chicago; step-daughters: Katie Kohler and Pat Koss both of Chicago; sister, Maria Markley of Remington, VA; several grandchildren and great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Michael L. Crotty who died April 16, 1981; brothers: Johnny Chullen and Marko Chullen; sister, Catherine C. Thomas; Step-son, Allen Crotty, and step-daughter, Anna Rosemary Fair.

Calling hours will be from 11 am till 1 pm Thursday May 12, 2011 at the Bryan & Snider Funeral Home, 2318 Maple Ave. Funeral services will begin at 1 pm Thursday with Father Jordan Turano officiating. Committal services will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery, Zanesville.
