Harley K. Kane (December 1, 1922 – March 26, 2011)

Harley K. Kane, 88 of Zanesville, died 8:25 AM Saturday, March 26, 2011 at his residence following a long illness. He was born Friday, December 1, 1922 in Lancaster, the son John Kane and Lillian (Canfield) Kane. Harley was married to Eleanor Canfield Kane.

Harley was the owner of Harley Kane Construction Company for over 46 years. He was an avid reader who loved woodworking and travel. He served his country during WW II as an Air Plane Mechanic with the 466th Air Engineers Squadron in the United States and the Pacific Theater with the 71st Air Service Group. Harley was a 64-year member of Lancaster Masonic Lodge # 57 Free and Accepted Masons of Ohio and received a proclamation of honor for 60 years of service by the Grand Master of Ohio. He was a member of the Valley of Cambridge Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite Masons and Imperial Council of Shiners, Aladdin Shiners for over 50 years.

Harley is survived by one son: Doug Kane of Zanesville; one granddaughter, Erin (Kevin) Clayton and their children, great grandchildren Courtney and Zack all of Lima.

In addition to his parents, Harley was preceded in death by his wife: Eleanor Kane who died on August 24, 2000; a daughter: Carolyn Cummins; a sister: Helen (Otis) Smith and two brothers: Donald Kane and John (Glenna) Kane, Jr.

No public visitation or funeral services will be observed. A private burial in Zanesville Memorial Park Cemetery will take place at a later date.
