Gordon Lee Sayre (December 4, 1923 – July 24, 2011)

Gordon Lee Sayre,87, of Zanesville formerly of Roseville passed away on Sunday July 24, 2011 at Genesis Good Samaritan Hospital.
Gordon was born in Racine, Ohio on December 4, 1923 to the late Raymond and Goldie Cramlet Sayre. Gordon retired from Ohio Bell Telephone, and was a long time patron of the Cozy Corner and Terry’s Tavern. He was a member and past Commander of Roseville American Legion Post 71 and served our country and protected our freedom by serving in the US Army in the Pacific Theater, he was awarded three Battle Star Participation Ribbons, Bronze Star, Soldiers Medal of Valor, and was wounded twice.
He is survived by two sisters: Betty Koehler of Roseville and Creta Moore of Zanesville, a long time friend Bill Seevers of Zanesville, Nephews: Mike Sayre of Dayton, Jeff Koehler of Roseville, Larry Moore of Thornville, Doug Moore of Roseville, and David Moore of Zanesville. Nieces: Deana Sayre of Dayton, Vicki Koehler Gussler of Garden City, South Carolina, Becky Koehler Cole of Roseville, and Diane Buchannan of Zanesville. Numerous great- nieces and great-nephews.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother Earl Sayre, two brother-in-laws: Bob Moore and Harold “Bud” Koehler, a sister-in-law Mina Sayre, two nieces Carrie Sayre and Jane Koehler, and a nephew Larry Cole.
Visitation will be from 11am to 12:30 pm on Wednesday July 27, 2011 at THE ROSEVILLE CHAPEL OF THE SNOUFFER FUNERAL HOME 33 NORTH MAIN STREET ROSEVILLE. A Graveside service will be held at 1pm at Rose Hill Cemetery with Pastor Al Laese officiating. Full Military honors will be conducted by Roseville American Legion Post 71.
