Farid K Riachi (August 27, 1926 – April 12, 2011)


Farid K Riachi, 84 of Zanesville , OH died Tuesday, April 12, 2011 at his home.

He was born Friday, August 27, 1926 in Kaa-El-Rim, Zahle, Lebanon the son of Khattar and Zahia S. Riachi.

He was a member of Holy Trinity Byzantine Catholic Church and was the owner and operator of Ritchey’s Market. He was also well known as a welding engineer in Lebanon and as a wonderful cook and baker.

He is survived by his wife Sit-El-Ekhwi, three sons Nadim (Lisa), George (Mona) and Wadih (Rose) all of Zanesville; three daughters Zahia (George) Kfoury of Lebanon, Lyla Merz of Columbus and Ferial (Matthew) Piroch of Butler, PA. 17 grandchildren, Nicholas (Erin) Ritchey, Natalie Ritchey, Leslie Ritchey, Lizabeth Ritchey, David Merz III, Victoria Merz, Phillip Merz, Andrew Merz, Farid Riachy, Elie Riachy, Ramy Riachy, George Riachy, Joseph Riashi, Michael Riashi, Michele Riashi, Dimitry Kfoury and John Piroch. He was born from a family of nine children with three surviving brothers residing in Lebanon. Preceded in death in addition to his parents, was a son-in- law David Merz Jr.

Friends may call from 2-4 & 6-8pm on Friday, April 15, 2011 at The Hillis & Hardwick Funeral Home, 935 Forest Ave., Zanesville. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:30 am, Saturday, April 16, at St. Nicholas Catholic Church, 925 Main St. with Fr. Ignatius Harrington as celebrant. Burial will follow at Mt. Olive Cemetery.
