Emma Maxine (Greene) Coleman, 80, of South Zanesville, Ohio, entered the gates of Heaven unexpectedly the evening of Friday, October 28, 2022.
Maxine was born March 7, 1942, in Ansley, Nebraska, to Clarence and Merle (Royle) Greene. At the young age of 17, she met the love of her life, Gene Coleman, while on a trip with her sister, Shirley, to Shreveport, Louisiana. The two were married June 7, 1959, in Mitchell, Nebraska, and moved to Ohio to start a family.
Maxine, or Max as she was known by her nieces and nephews, was a quietly strong woman of devoted faith who unconditionally and unselfishly loved her children and grandchildren, surrounding them with warmth and kindness. Her family was her sole focus, and she took care of them and worried over them until the end, sometimes disregarding her own needs. She loved spending time with her granddaughters, Taylor and Callie, whom she proudly doted on and spoiled every chance she got. She was their biggest fan as they played sports throughout the years.
She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Gene Coleman; siblings Shirley Brown of Placentia, California; Richard (Sandra) Greene of Scottsbluff, Nebraska; and Luanna Woolsey of Clute, Texas; children Jeff (Nancy) Coleman of Cambridge, Ohio; Steve Coleman of the home; and Kim (Bob) Tatman of Roseville, Ohio; two beloved granddaughters, Taylor (Aidan) Tatman of Hilliard, Ohio, and Callie Tatman of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina; and several nieces and nephews.
Maxine was preceded in death by her parents; brothers Robert and Michael Greene; and sister Bonnie Kelley.
Per Maxine’s wishes, no calling hours will be held. Private graveside services will be held at Duncan Falls Cemetery.
