Darlene Lentz, 83, of Zanesville, went to be with her Lord, January 14, 2023, at Genesis Hospital following a sudden illness. She was born Thursday, November 16, 1939, in McKeesport, PA, the daughter of Edison C. McCance, Sr. and Julia DeEtta (Dutton) McCance. She married Elmer F. Lentz on Tuesday, July 19, 1966.
She was a former member of Salt Creek Free Baptist Church and enjoyed watching Shepard’s Chapel for over 40 years. Darlene was a 1957 Graduate of New Concord High School and worked at RCA and GE. She enjoyed farming, gardening, canning from her garden, sewing and was a member of Seneca Sam’s Camping Club, Chapter 24. She had a beautiful voice and enjoyed singing in church and karaoke at Highway 40 Karaoke. Darlene enjoyed visiting on the phone, always had a smile, enjoyed square dancing and never met a stranger. She was the matriarch of a blended family and she loved to say “his, mine and ours”.
Darlene is survived by her husband of the home; three daughters, Carlene Fowler, Debra D. Sarbaugh and Glenna K. Simon; one son, Jeffrey (Franki) Lentz; many grandchildren and great grandchildren, and one sister, Linda (Tim) McGrady.
In addition to her parents, Darlene was preceded in death by two sons, David E. Jacobs and Stephen W. Lentz; one sister, Ruth Habib; five brothers, Richard, Robert, John and Edison McCance Jr., and infant brother, Gilbert McCance.
Friends may call from 1:00 to 3:00 PM, Thursday, January 19, 2023, at the Hillis, Combs & Nestor Funeral Home, 935 Forest Avenue, Zanesville, where services will follow at 3:00 PM, with Rev. Keith Taylor officiating. Burial will follow in the family plot at Greenwood Cemetery at a later date.
