Dana Lee Hayes (November 15, 1959 – February 28, 2011)

Dana Lee Hayes, 51, of Blue Rock, passed away Monday February 28, 2011 at his residence following a long illness.

He was born November 15, 1959 in Zanesville the son of the late Dale Hayes who died 12/24/1999 and Elizabeth Ann Shultz Hayes of the home. Dana graduated from Philo High School in 1978 where he played football. He also played for the East Tiger Biddy League football team. He was a lifetime member of 4-H, showed and raised registered hogs and judged hog shows at county fairs in Pennsylvania. Dana was formerly employed by United Technologies, Oasis, Tomosco and retired from W.H. Transportation as a truck driver. He enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson and Indian motorcycles. He also enjoyed NFL football, bowling and was a NASCAR fan, his favorite driver being Dale Earnhardt Sr.

Dana is survived in addition to his mother by a special friend: Mini Johnson of Zanesville, his favorite pal: Tayhoss and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

Preceding him in death were his father, paternal grandparents: Leo and Mildred Hayes, maternal grandparents: Louis and Geneva Shultz, step-grandfather: Jim Mullen and several aunts and uncles.

Visitation for Dana will be 2:00 – 4:00 and 6:00 – 8:00 Sunday March 6, 2011 at Bryan & Snider Funeral Home 2318 Maple Ave. where funeral services will be at 11:00 AM Monday March 7, 2011. Rev. Joe Rowland will officiate followed by committal service at Woodlawn Cemetery.
