Heat For Our Heroes Nominations Now Open

Local News Stories

ZANESVILLE, Oh – Nominations for Able Incorporated’s Annual ‘Heat For Our Heroes,’ are now open!

The giveaway provides two veterans, active duty military members, or their surviving spouses with a new electric or gas furnace!

Nominees must be in need of a new furnace, and own their home. They also must be willing to participate in interviews and have their picture taken.

HR/Safety Manager Hilary Wehler and Comfort Advisor Shannon Christie say this is a way of giving back to those who were willing to give their all for this country and they’re proud to be a part of it!

“They put everything on the line. They put their life on the line to go out there so that we’re free in our lives and we’re able to do what we want to do, so just this small act of making sure that they’re taken care of in their time of need is important for us,” Wehler said.

“I’m very proud to be a part of this and to show this act of kindness to our community,” Christie told us.

Two winners, from within Muskingum, Guernsey, Morgan, Noble, and Perry Counties will be chosen by the American Legion and announced on Veterans’ Day.

Wehler says the giveaway was started five years ago as a way to thank those who have and continue to serve our country.

“So Russ Ables, the president, when he started this, he said this is one way for us to show appreciation and to say thank you to the veterans, you know just for all that they’ve done for us, this is a little bit of payback for them,” Wehler added.

To nominate someone, you can stop into Able’s located at 3370 East Pike, or American Legion or go online to http://www.heatforourheroes.com and fill out a nomination form.

A downloadable nomination form is also available on the website and can be printed, filled out, and mailed to:
