ArtCOZ Artist and Musician of the Month

Local News

ZANESVILLE, Oh – First Friday Artwalk will be held on August 5th. The Artist Colony of Zanesville or ArtCOZ is excited to announce this month’s featured artists.

Lee Casey does all types of art and has been painting with oil on canvases for 5 years, he actually builds his own canvas. He is very honored to be this month’s Artist of the Week and is rediscovering what art truly means.

“Even though I produce things that you obviously can see what they are. I’m exploring what it means and different things like balance and patterns and things of that nature. I hope one day that I can paint things that tell a story and as I’m exploring that whenever I see something that catches my eye I’ll definitely be painting that,” Casey told us.

Artist turned musician and Musician of the month Alexandria Kellet says that being the musician of the month is thrilling and exciting all in one. She says that it is different but she is getting used to performing.

Musician Lexy samples her performance for First Friday.

“I’m used to karaoking. I’m used to little bitty bars. The last time I karaoke at first Friday Artwalk, I believe was last month and it felt amazing to be there in front of everybody there and having them cooperate for only one song./ I can do all kinds of different genres. We’ll be doing some rock, some country, some Disney, some pop, like whatever feels good,” Kellet said.

Both Lee and Alexandria will be present at Artwalk Friday from 5 to 8pm in Zanesville’s Art district. A full list of artists and studios can be found on their website at artcoz.org.
