Local Sports Sports

ZANESVILLE, OH- It was a hot one outside here in our area, but that did not stop the Zanesville Senior Pioneers from making their way to the baseball diamond to face off against the Zanesville Junior Pioneers.

Early on here it was a pitcher’s duel. for the Junior Pioneers it was Trent Valentine on the mound as he went up against Brandon Bush of the Senior Pioneers. Both pitchers were not letting up in this one.

It took a couple of innings, but it would be Nate Stewart putting one up the middle for a base hit. Senior Pioneers gaining momentum but they were not able to score a run.

Senior Pioneers knocking on the door again, but it would be slammed shut as Dom Gorrence came up with the big time snag at shortstop.

The Senior Pioneers would respond with a huge play of their own. Ty Smith would find the gap butChase Phillips would throw from right field and get the batter out at third. Huge play for the Senior Pioneers.

But, the Junior Pioneers would get that one back as Gorrence puts this deep into left field just past the outstretched glove of the fielder and his hit would roll all the way to the fence. That would bring in Smith for the first run of the game.

The Junior Pioneers would add on two more runs in this one as they defeat the Senior Pioneers 3-0.
