Washington Township Fire Department’s Mother’s Day Barbeque Day

Local News

WASHINGTON TOWNSHIP, Ohio – The community started lining up at 10 am Sunday morning for the Washington Township Fire Department’s Mother’s Day Chicken Barbeque.

The event started at 11:00, but many people were eager for the 54th Annual Barbeque!

The fire department even sold over 600 meals in just 20 minutes.

The President of the Fire Department, Josh Snouffer says that the event took a lot of hard work and community support to pull off.

“We started the chickens at 1 o’clock this morning, and by 7:30, they were all done. So its just been tremendous teamwork from our whole crew and volunteers. We have 4 age groups here helping us, different members of the community. Its just the support that our community has given us in the fire department is unbelievable,” he said.

The meals include half a chicken, coleslaw, applesauce, roll & butter, desert, and chips.

The support from the fundraiser shows just how much the community cares about the fire department.

“I just once again would like to thank everybody for their support, and we certainly appreciate it, we’re there for them 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. And when this rolls around, they’re here for us,” he told us.

This is the Washington Township Fire Department signature fundraiser, and is the biggest one of the year.

The money raised goes towards emergency equipment, training equipment, and anything else the department may need.
