A Very Handsome Boy, Thomas…Animal Shelter Society Pet of The Week!

Local News

ZANESVILLE, Oh – Meet this week’s Animal Shelter Pet of the Week, Thomas!

He is a very sweet, super precious 3-month-old terrier-mix who came to the shelter about a month ago.

Thomas is currently about 15-pounds and is expected to be a big boy, about 60-80 pounds when fully grown.

He is a fun, playful and very active puppy-in-training who is extremely food-motivated, says Animal Care Manager, Rebecca Hunt.

“He would love to be in a house with kids ideally, or somebody that is going to be very active with him, get him out and play. He is learning some basic commands right now. We’re trying to work on ‘sit’ and he’s doing really good with potty-training in his kennel,” she said.

Thomas has one more round of puppy shots left, but is otherwise up-to-date on the rest of his shots, neutered and ready to go to his fur-ever home!

Hunt says he is also on preventatives for fleas and ticks, which the shelter offers a monthly clinic for.

“Flea and tick season is among us. I pulled off ticks off some kitty cats yesterday, outdoor kitty cats. Heartworm, it’s that season. Mosquitos are out, heartworms are transmitted by mosquitoes. SO it’s important that you do. You can either give us a call, we can get you scheduled for clinic to get your pet up to date and on those preventatives so we don’t have to worry about the diseases that come with those,” she told us.

Hunt also says Thomas loves toys, especially pull and squeakers, enjoys watching the bigger dogs in the yard, although he hasn’t tried playing with them just yet, and would love a play-mate, either human or four-legged.
