Day One of Carr Center’s 36th Annual Cake Auction

Local News

The 36th Annual Cake Auction, hosted by the Carr Center is on Day 1 of auctions.

The fundraiser supports the efforts the Carr Center contributes to the community like speech therapy, adult daycare and much more.

This year’s theme is ‘Our Bee Loved Community,’ encouraging cake designs to be centered around bees.

Cake Auction Chair Scott Boyer says that they are overwhelmed with the continued support of the community.

“Its just amazing the community, continues to give and give and give, even in hard times the community gives. So, I’d say thats– you don’t see very many of the fundraisers in small communities last this long as this one has.”

Millions of dollars have been raised since the beginning of the fundraiser 36 years ago.

Donations from the community fuel the fundraiser, with even a car being donated this year.

“Champion Services has donated a car, so we are auctioning a this year. It was in a movie years and years ago. So its just those things that the people in the community step up and do and say they wanted to help the Carr Center, so he gave his classic car for us to auction off. Its things like that make the community unique.”

The first day of bidding brought in $40,380.

Tomorrow, Day 2 bidding will continue from 9 am to 5 pm.

Updates on the cake auction are available on WHIZ AM 1240 or 102.3 FM.
