A New Straitsville man is dead after being struck while walking on State Route 13 near Corning Sunday night.
The accident took place around 8:50pm. The Lancaster Post of the State Highway said 55-year-old Lee Watkins, of Corning was driving north on State Route 13 when he struck two pedestrians as they walking north on 13.
One of the pedestrians 29-year-old Dean Morrison was pronounced dead at the scene. The other pedestrian 33-year-old Cindy Spears of Crooksville was flown by MedFlight to Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center with suspected serious, but non-life threatening injuries.
Watkins fled the scene and was found a short time later. The patrol said impairment is suspected in the crash which remains under investigation.
