Secretary of State Visits Guernsey County Board of Elections

Local News

GUERNSEY COUNTY, Ohio- The Guernsey Board of Elections was paid a visit from the Secretary of State today.

Early voting as well as absentee voting is now available to voters in all counties across Ohio.

This ballot will have some similarities to typical primary elections, however you will not see State Representative, State Senators, or State Central Committee due to many ongoing lawsuits against the State.

The Secretary of State, Frank LaRose says that this year’s ballot for the Primary Election should be one that every Ohioan participates in.

“But the things that are going to be on the ballot are going to be on the ballot are all the other races that you’d be accustomed to. The Governor’s race, the US Senate race, Congressional race, even the Secretary of State race. All of those local contests for county office, school levies. There’s really a lot of important decisions that voters are making between now and May 3rd and no one should sit this out. Because we make it really easy to vote in Ohio,” LaRose said.

The two key things he says to remember is that regardless of when the election is or what may be on the ballot, Ohioans will always have easy access to vote and the integrity of the ballot will never change.

He also discussed the issue of redistricting, noting that some issues will be voted on at a later date.

“The Ohio Supreme Court has told us that we need redraw the maps a couple times and so weve gone through that process and um there’s going to have to be a second election for those races and that’ll most likely be in August, its up to the State Legislator to set that date,” he let us know.

The actual primary election voting day is May 3rd, from 6:30 am until 7pm at your designated polling location.

Absentee ballots and instructions on to mail them in are available on and early voting will be available for the next four weeks at the Board of Elections from 8am-5pm.
