NEW CONCORD, OH- We stopped by John Glenn as they are preparing for what they hope can be a big season for their team.
The Muskies finished last season with an 11-15 record and placed sixth in the Muskingum Valley League standings. Fast forward to this season, and the Muskies hope to improve.
They have a veteran core of five seniors as well as plenty of others players with varsity experience.
The team said they started practicing earlier than usual and feel they have potential to win their first MVL title since 2014.
“We had a mediocre season. I thought we could do a lot better than we did but we had some ups and downs and we went through some adversity and I think last year will help us this year,” said John Glenn senior pitcher/catcher Colin Campbell.
Also, the team said last year was a growing year that allowed younger players to get key experience at the varsity level. Despite having an underwhelming season last year, they say the experience the team gained was valuable and will be beneficial for their players as they prepare for games this spring.
“Last year we definitely had our ups and downs, we had some bright spots but we also had some spots where we could definitely improve. But, it was a learning year. Our COVID year kind of cut some of us short of experience so some of our younger guys got more experience and it was definitely a growing year for us,” said Muskies Senior outfielder Blade Barclay.
