WHIZ Sports 2-26: John Glenn, Tri-Valley, Meadowbrook Earn Playoff Wins; Bishop Rosecrans Falls Short

GAME #1: BISHOP ROSECRANS BISHOPS VS. MONROE CENTRAL

BYESVILLE, OH- Our first game of the day took place at Meadowbrook High School as the Bishop Rosecrans Bishops faced off against the Monroe Central Seminoles in the Division IV East District title game.

Bishop Rosecrans started off the game strong, scoring the first basket of the game while playing good defense.

On the other end, Monroe Central responded with a three-pointer to take the early lead. The tough defense of Monroe Central proved to be a difference-maker early on as they forced multiple Bishop Rosecrans turnovers in the first half.

The Bishops used their ball movement and length to their advantage, giving themselves good looks in the paint.

Monroe Central went on a big run in the second quarter that helped them gain momentum and the lead going into halftime.

Bishop Rosecrans would would make a fourth-quarter comeback attempt but they would fall just short to Monroe Central 41-37. They finish their season with an 18-4 record.

GAME #2: JOHN GLENN MUSKIES VS. WEST HOLMES KNIGHTS

DRESDEN, OH- Our next playoff game was at nearby Tri-Valley as the John Glenn Muskies took on the West Holmes Knights in the District Championship Game.

Heading into this season, the John Glenn program wanted to “Change The Narrative”. Not only have they done that, but now they’ve officially made history.

The trio of Angela Kumler, Mya Oliver, and McKinzi Linscott helped propel the Muskies over West Holmes 58-40 to bring the program’s first district championship back to New Concord.

John Glenn took care of business in this one, leading from start to finish. Now, they look to continue to make school history as they advance to the next round.

GAME #3: TRI-VALLEY SCOTTIES VS. INDIAN CREEK

CAMBRIDGE, OH- Now to Cambridge where Tri-Valley faced off against Indian Creek in their playoff matchup. From start to finish, this one was all Scotties as they led the entire game and showed why they are a top seed.

The Tri-Valley Scotties go on to win the district championship over Indian Creek 56-18. Lexi Howe led the Scotties with 18 points in the win.

GAME #4: MEADOWBROOK COLTS VS. INDIAN VALLEY

BYESVILLE, OH- The Meadowbrook Colts were alive and ready to rock their home arena in tonight’s playoff game against Indian Valley.

The game started off as a defensive battle as both teams were struggling to get on the board. But it was Romeo Dorsey picking up the slack as he got a easy put back for the first bucket of the game.

Though it started as a back and forth battle the Colts soon took control and went on a little run to give them the lead.

It was a tough battle throughout most of the game but in the end the home crowd sparked the Colts to victory as they defeated Indian Valley 49-33
