NEW LEXINGTON, Ohio- United States Representative, Tim Ryan, who is now running for Senate, took a visit today of the Ludowici Roof Tile facility located in Perry County.
The visit was one out of the many stops a part of Ryan’s small towns and community campaign tour.
Ryan said it is his mission to highlight the manufacturing facilities and jobs that are located in small towns.
“These are real craftsmen here. This is a real skilled workforce that is doing a very sophisticated product and I think this is exactly what we need to honor in this country,” Ryan stated. “We’ve done a lot over the past few decades where if your in finance or if your in banking, you get all the attention and I think we need to bring the attention back to these workers that are doing great stuff, making great products and shipping them to the world and we saw that today here first hand just the absolute highly skilled workforce that’s here.”

Ryan talked about his experience being from a small area like Youngstown, Ohio and how he is able to relate to the community.
If elected as Senator, Ryan plans to bring back useful shop classes in schools that will prepare the youth for the skilled workforce and hopefully lead to the stop of bad trade deals that hallowed out the workforce.
“If we can do that I think we can start moving in the right direction in the country and that’s what I’m going to do, and fight like hell for these workers who’ve had the short end of the stick for a long time,” Ryan said. “I want to make sure people know that I know what they are going through. My community and family have gone through very similar experiences up in Youngstown and we want to make sure we get someone in the Senate who’s not some millionaire that’s out of touch, but somebody who comes from the working class and understands what their needs are.”
The Marietta area is the next stop for the small town tour. Ryan expressed how he plans to keep showing up for these areas.
