Local News

ZANESVILLE, Ohio- The Animal Shelter Society is very excited to announce that they will be having their second annual Barktoberfest on October, 14th at the Green House of Vista Golf Course.

April Cohagen- Gibson, General Manager of the Animal Shelter Society explained that there will be three sponsorship levels. The Purrfect Sponsor is $100, which will get you a ticket into the event. Then $250 for the Hound Dog Sponsor and $500 for the Top Dog sponsor. Sponsorship forms can be located here.

“Any money coming in from your local government, your city, your county or on the state level, this is how we do it, is with our fundraiser. So these are very vital for us to keep homeless dogs…to take care of them with their spayed, neutered and their vaccines, and their microchips, so this is why this fundraiser is so very important,” Cohagen-Gibson said.

Last year’s Barktoberfest was conducted virtually due to the pandemic, but Cohagen-Gibson shared that this year, it will be in person and they will be sure to follow safety protocols with the Health Department and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

“We are very excited to let our community know that we are thriving. Even though it’s very difficult everyday as a non-profit 501C3, we’re able to do what we can,” Cohagen-Gibson added.

The tickets are $30 per person and can be purchased at the Animal Shelter Society or by contacting Cohagen-Gibson.

Additionally, there will be a special cater, a live auction that will include special artwork from local artists, autographed sports memorabilia and about 25 to 30 items up for auction with all proceeds going to the Animal Shelter Society.
