ZANESVILLE, Ohio- A new and never before performed play is in town titled, “Deadline,” by Chrisopher Scott Brooks, a Zanesville native.
The play will be held at the Zanesville Community Theater starting next week, September 10th, 11th, 17th and 18th at 8PM and September 12th and 19th at 2:30PM.
Amy Underwood, the Director, provided a glimpse of what the play is about and shared that this is the second show Zanesville will witness for the first time by the author Brooks.
“It’s called Deadline because it’s the story of a small town newspaper that’s being shut down, today, the day of the performance, it’s their last day in operation and with a few hours till their 5 o’clock deadline, an event happens that has them all scurrying to get the story and report it as accurately and fairly as they possibly can,” Underwood stated.
Underwood added her plans for the play and what it may bring to the Zanesville community.
“I hope the audience comes away with a lot of questions. Maybe a new appreciation for media, especially newspaper media,” Underwood said.
There will be a question and answer, and an open discussion with newspaper professionals from the area on the first Sunday performance, September 12th.
