Longtime Assistant Fire Chief Passes Away

A longtime Zanesville firefighter has passed away.

Robert Eugene “Bob” Lentz died Saturday at the age of 83. Lentz retired as Assistant Chief of the Zanesville Fire Department after over 28 years of service. He was also a well-known home builder for over 40 years.

Lentz was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Zanesville. He’s survived by his wife Martha Garner Lentz, two sons, two daughters, seven grandchildren, two brothers and two sisters.

Calling hours for friends and family will take place from 6-8pm Thursday at Bolin-Dierkes Funeral home. His funeral will take place Friday at 11am and he’ll be laid to rest at Zanesville Memorial Park Cemetery.
