This Saturday, June 25th, The Barn will be hosting a fundraiser for Habitat for Humanity of Southeast Ohio and The Kiwanis Club of Zanesville.
The two groups realized they had similar aspirations as to how to help the community. Once Jim Watson, owner of The Barn, was on board to host the event, they had what they needed to proceed. There will be live music, a 50/50, and several other types of raffles.
“So we’re excited, we’re hosting the event for the Kiwanis…. and for the Habitat for Humanity for the Boards, Bands, and Beers event and we’re excited to have the community down and excited to have the folks from Habitat and the folks from Kiwanis down at The Barn to kind of band together to help someone come up with a home,” said Jim Watson, owner of the The Barn.
Habitat for Humanity has an initiative this summer to build small playhouses for children. Deborah Knaup, President of the Zanesville Kiwanis, realized that was a project she wanted to help with.
“I was lucky enough to be partnered up with, I met Melissa and we kind of partnered up with Habitat and with Kiwanis and what we could do to serve our community this summer. Especially for the families with the homes, and this particular project with the homes that they build, their kicking off an initiative soon with playhouses, and part of my project for Kiwanis this year that we’re all jumping in on is raising money for that,” said Knaup.
The event will start at 7 p.m. and there is also a second event scheduled already scheduled for Saturday, July 17.
