The Secrest Auditorium and the City of Zanesville will host four free concerts this summer in an effort to bring the community back together after Covid-19.
The concert series will start on Thursday, July 1 and will continue for the following three Thursdays. Bands of various genres have been invited to play and the expectation is that the concerts will be a catalyst in giving people a sense of a return to normalcy.
“We realized that over the last year to year and a half, people have this pent up energy, this frustration, maybe they didn’t get a chance to enjoy anything in 2020, it’s rained so much this year, and what we’re planning is really kicking off a summer concert series so that people can get out of the house, socialize, see their friends, get back downtown, maybe enjoy music and go out to dinner. “
The Food Trucks and Beer Garden will be available from 4:00-8:30PM and the live music will go from 6-7:30PM. The admission is completely free. So to help fund the cost of the events, the city is looking for partners.
” We are looking for sponsorships. We have a few tiers of sponsorships. You can sponsor one event or you can sponsor all four. The cost to sponsor all four is $2000. We’ve been very successful right now. We want this to be community oriented. So we want community partners. We’ve already got a great partner in the Jaycees. They’re going to handle all the beer sales. We have some local food vendors who are going to be coming in and helping out as well. “
The city is looking to make this an annual event and hopes to be able to expand on the concept in the future.
