Animal Shelter Names Pet of Week; Offers Update

Local News

ZANESVILLE, Ohio-The Animal Shelter Society of Zanesville is naming Bennie as their pet of the week.

Bennie is a loving pup who’s been in the shelter since February 22nd of 2020. As with many of the animals he is sponsored by Premier Title and Closing Services.

“Bennie is a senior dog, eight years old. Bennie is fully sponsored, very friendly. Loyal dog, loves people, loves children. Bennie is a one pet show, he does not do well with other dogs, but he is absolutely a prize. As they say around here, Bennie is king.”, sponsor Jeremy McLendon said.

The Animal Shelter is also announcing a project they’ve been working on for the last six months. Veterinary students from the Mid-East Technical School will start having experience training at the shelter.

“We’ve been working with them for approximately six months. We’ve hired three of their students, and today we’re gonna go down and meet with them. We’re gonna sign the contracts for the job shadowing and the internship, and we’re gonna have anywhere from six to ten students here at the Animal Shelter. That’s what it’s all about is partnership.”, shelter general manager April Cohagen-Gibson said.

Information on adopting Bennie or donating to the shelter can be found by calling the shelter.
