ZANESVILLE, OH – After 11 years The Smiling Goat Saloon in Zanesville is closing its doors on the bar scene and will be reopening in the near future as La Cabra Craft Tacos.
Owners Darren and Kristy Tigner wanted to introduce food into their business and decided jumping head first into it was the best way to do so. One of their biggest focuses with the new restaurant is going to be their takeout, curbside pickup, and online ordering.
“It’s a really fun exciting concept. So it’s going to be a modern take on craft tacos. It’s going to be a lot of fresh foods, a lot of things made in house. We did extensive research going all over the country trying to find out really what we wanted this to be and we’re very fortunate to work with an amazing chef Nathan Nolan. He’s coming in and he’s got an amazing amount of experience. And we’re really excited to deliver a lot of high class experiences to folks,” Owner Darren Tigner said.
Kristy stated that they will still have the full bar experience, with a new focus on fresh margaritas. They also plan to partner with a local brewery to bring local beers on tap. The new atmosphere will be very family friendly.
“We’re installing a brand new commercial kitchen upstairs so the bar that used to be upstairs came out. And there’s a full commercial kitchen going in. There will be a dining room upstairs. The downstairs isn’t going to change a ton. And then in the spring and summer hopefully we’ll plan to do seating on the patio outside to really maximize that space and give Zanesville a great place to eat outdoors. Something that we really don’t have much option of right now,” Owner Kristy Tigner said.
The Tigners plan to reopen during the first quarter of this year. La Cabra Craft Tacos will also be conducting open interviews on January 31st and February 3rd from noon to 3 at their location, 1335 Linden Avenue.
