ZANESVILLE, Ohio-The Muskingum County Sheriff’s Office is learning more information about a Monday evening crash that left three people hospitalized.
One hospitalized victim is under sedation while two others are in stable condition. Sheriff Matt Lutz recaps the crash as they have investigated it.
“From the initial investigation it appears that we had two cars that were headed in the same direction, going away from South Zanesville, out Maysville Pike. It appears that one of those cars drove into the other car, as they were going the same direction, and the other car that got ran into travelled across the lane of travel into the eastbound lane and another car coming that way hit that car broadside.”, Lutz recapped.
Lutz said that Tiffany Adair, 42, was charged with driving under the influence and assured clear distance ahead. Lutz believes alcohol impairment was a contributor to causing the crash.
“Obviously from our point of view we had probable cause to believe that alcohol was a factor in this pending investigation. In a situation like this where you have two cars going the same way you don’t necessarily see that a lot. Usually these are cars turning in front of other cars or running a stop sign or running a red light. It doesn’t appear to be that way here but you never know if distracted driving, besides the alcohol, played a part in this as well.”, Lutz continued.
Adair’s court appearance is scheduled to be Wednesday, January 20th.
