ZANESVILLE, OH – The Muskingum County Board of Developmental Disabilities will be hosting a drive through Santa visit on Wednesday December 16th.
Families of children with disabilities are invited to RSVP for a 5 minute interval time slot between 5pm and 7pm. The socially distanced event will take place in front of the Starlight School, which is located at 1330 Newark Road.
“You just basically pull in the main entrance of the school and then you’ll make the turn and Santa will be there waiting on you with a couple elves with him. He’ll be waving. We’re asking for everybody to stay in their car… It’ll give the kids and their families an opportunity to see Santa in a safe, healthy environment. And hopefully everybody has fun,” Director of Administrative Services Jordon Searls said.
Last year Starlight School held an in person Santa visit with food and pictures. This year they had to get creative when figuring out a similar yet safe way to bring Santa to the kids.
“Santa Claus will have his gloves on, he’ll be using hand sanitizer. Again the kids and their family will be asked to stay in the car. We’ll be doing the social distance. But the goal is that they get to see him, they can tell him you know maybe what they want for Christmas. Still some normalcy but in a different way.”
You can RSVP for the event by calling the Muskingum County Board of Developmental Disabilities at (740) 453-4829 to request a time slot for the Drive Thru Santa event.
