SOUTHEAST, Ohio- Less than 24 hours after playing its season opener, the Zanesville boys basketball team was back on the court to take on Marietta, in the Zanesville Tip-Off Classic.
Tied at 56 at the end of regulation, Zanesville won in overtime 72-67. The win is the Blue Devils first of the season.
Zanesville had four players is double figures, Shelton Redman (19), Greg Gibson (19), Xavier Riley (15), Brier Harmon (10).
The Blue Devils return to action Friday, at Newark.
The John Glenn girls were playing its season opener at home against Crooksville.
Thanks to 14 points from Abi Shirer and 12 from Angela Kumler, the Lady Muskies won 45-32.
Gracelyn Frame led Crooksville with 14 points.
Both teams are home on Wednesday. John Glenn vs. Coshocton. Crooksville vs. Philo.
The Tri-Valley girls were on the road taking on Olentangy. Despite a solid 15 point effort from standout sophomore Lexi Howe, the Lady Dawgs fall on the road 49-39.
Tri-Valley will be back in action on Wednesday at River View.
Speaking of River View, the girls were at home Saturday taking on New Lexington.
The Panthers improve to 2-0 this season with an impressive 64-37 win. Aubri Spicer scored 24 points in her season debut.
New Lex has its home opener on Wednesday, against Morgan.
The Cambridge boys were playing at home for the first time this season. Taking on Tuscarawas Valley in the Gene Ford Tip-Off Classic.
Despite leading at halftime, 32-24, Cambridge falls 65-59.
