Boys basketball season tips off; Lady Electrics win season opener

ZANESVILLE, Ohio – Tonight was the official start of the high school boys basketball season, so naturally, that means it’s time for Fink’s Full Court Press.

Starting at Zanesville High School for the annual Tip-Off Classic, the Blue Devils the Athens Bulldogs.

Shelton Redman led the Blue Devils with 22 points. However it wouldn’t be enough as Athens takes down Zanesville 68-53.

FINAL: Athens 68 – Zanesville 53

In Coshocton County, Ridgewood opened up it’s 2020-21 campaign hosting IVC opponent Newcomerstown.

Ridgewood got off to a quick start, leading the Trojans 26-2 at the end of the first quarter and 50-4 at halftime.

FINAL: Newcomerstown 6 – Ridgewood 75

In Philo, the Lady Electrics welcomed MVL-newcomer Meadowbrook to the newly renovated Power Plant.

On Senior Night for the Electrics, Philo senior Chloe Irvin led the team twelve points and a win in their season opener.

FINAL: Meadowbrook 28 – Philo 58
