ZANESVILLE, Ohio- In the first day of Round 2 of the high school football playoffs, we were treated to some great games.
3rd ranked Sheridan, playing its first home playoff game since 2010, was hosting 14th ranked Columbus South. The Generals cruise to a 27-0 win.
Sheridan advances to the quarterfinals, where it’ll host Columbus Bishop Watterson.
10th ranked Tri-Valley made an over two-hour drive down south to take on 7th ranked Jackson.
Tri-Valley had a 14-0 lead in the second half. Jackson responded with two touchdowns but still trailed 14-12. With 31 second left in the game, Jackson driving down the field with a chance to win it however, Aidan Fritter made a one-handed interception to win it for the Scotties.
Tri-Valley advances to the quarterfinals and will take on 2nd ranked Columbus Bishop Hartley.
13th ranked Zanesville was on the road taking on 4th ranked Jonathan Alder. The Blue Devils were held off the scoreboard and fall 35-0.
Despite being knocked out of the playoffs, Zanesville will play a regular season game with Newark on Friday.
In regular season matchups, Maysville defeated Morgan, 42-21. River View defeated West Muskingum, 62-40. Crooksville fell to Lakewood, 42-7.
John Glenn, Philo, Meadowbrook, Coshocton and New Lexington all play Saturday night.
