ZANESVILLE – There were several bidders for the new center. Kelly Architectural Services’ President Pat Kelly met with the Commissioners and they awarded a contract to the Zanesville – based Flecto Construction.
“Today we’re awarding the building construction contract which includes an alternate for an epoxy floor system. The remaining contracts are still under review for the kennel systems,” Kelly Architectural Services President Pat Kelly said.
In the current Dog Warden facility was built in the 1960’s. The new building which will be located behind the county juvenile detention center is a big need.
“It was designed to hold dogs just temporarily until they can be euthanized the current philosophy is that they have adoption and dog rescue centers so (with) this facility they’ll be able to keep the dogs longer which keeps them more sanitary. It keeps the animal handlers safer and has adoption areas where folks can come in (and) visit with the animals to see if its a good fit,” Kelly said.
Kelly said that the building should be fully constructed in February.
