Riesbeck’s Food Market to host food donation

ZANESVILLE – The event will be at the grocery store on Howard Street and will benefit the Muskingum County Hunger Network. Zanesville Fire Department’s Assistant Fire Chief and event organizer Doug Hobson says what the county is in the largest need of.

“Right now, there is a major need for vegetables. Christ’s Table is still feeding over 400 a day and where they were getting their supplies from and everything we did in the past with the food drives, they’re out of vegetables,” Hobson said.

Hobson says the low prices are canned goods is the reason for having the partnership with Riesbeck’s.

“That’s why we’ve teamed up with Riesbeck’s with the great price they’ve got macaroni and cheese and vegetables. You can drive by, hand out a 20 dollar, and know that’s 40 cans of food. So, we’re still going to take monetary donations here. It can be made out to the Muskingum Community Foundation. So, please, we’re asking all of the community about this Friday from 11 to 6,” Hobson said.

Hobson said he is open to having more food drives at Riesbeck’s but he isn’t sure when that would happen following the drop-off this Friday.
