MUSKINGUM COUNTY, Ohio-Local 4H members and future farmers have a new outlet to show their work with livestock.
The Muskingum County Youth Livestock Expo is holding an event where young farmers can show their animals as they would have at the now cancelled county fair. Board member Samantha Mozena has more.
“So the Muskingum County Youth Livestock Expo is an opportunity for 4H members and FFA members across the county to show their animals. We’re gonna have breeding, market and showmanship classes for each species and each species will have a different day. The Expo is different than the Premium because there’s an opportunity to register for it and you’ll be getting a premium for your animal.”
The Expo will feature animals ranging from Cows to Poultry to Swine. The event will be held this month under strict safety guidelines.
“The Muskingum County Youth Livestock Expo is at 555 Mt Perry Road, Mt. Perry, Ohio. Some of the guidelines we have to follow is that you have to wear a mask at all times. You have to sign a waiver for COVID as well as a rules and regulations waiver… It starts August 16th and it’s through the 20th.”
The event is not open to the public, only to the registered showpeople.
