ZMC Chamber is encouraging local businesses to be part of Safety Council

ZANESVILLE – The Chamber of Commerce manages Safety Council for the Ohio Bureau of Worker’s Compensation safety and hygiene division and this week is the last week to sign your business up for the Safety Council.

“We will have monthly meetings (and) they will be done virtually. We will have a variety of topics that will deal with safety and wellness and then with out current Covid situation, a responsible restart as well,” Chamber President Dana Matz said.

You do not need to be a member of the chamber to join. Since the meetings are conducted virtually, Matz isn’t sure if there will be an increase or decrease in the amount of companies in this year’s council. He says it’s very important for any business who is interested to participate.

“It’s very important to have these companies participating because safety for their employees is critical but the advantage to them is it increased productivity and you increase productivity, hopefully you are increasing your profit levels, and increasing profit that gives companies an opportunity to re-invest in the employees and the facilities and to continue to improve as an organization which hopefully means more jobs in the future,” Matz said.

The deadline to register is Friday at 4 PM and information can be found on the Chamber’s website. There is $135 charge to join.
