ZANESVILLE, Ohio- A bidding tour for the new housing project for Muskingum Behavioral Health began today.
The building will be located at the corner of south and 3rd street. The biding today is for demolition rights of the existing buildings. CEO Steve Carrel tells what the building will eventually be.
“Ultimately what’s going to be here is a 7.4 million dollar recovery residence. It’ll be one, two and three bedroom apartments on this site. It’s all going to entail section eight housing so folks, mainly folks in recovery, early recovery, give them a chance to get on their feet financially as well as have a safe place to live.”, Carrel said on site.
Bids should be in for demolition in the coming weeks. The 7.4 million dollar price tag will use very little taxpayer money according to Carrel.
“Some of it is taxpayer money coming through recovery housing and mental health and addiction services. Some of it are special types of loans, some of the funding are tax credits, it’s tax credits that banks provide to the funder.”
Groundbreaking on the building is expected for summer of 2020 and will be done by fall of 2021.
