ZANESVILLE – Zanesville Alumni Assocation is offering scholarship money to nine graduating seniors.
The $1,000 scholarships require that the recipient has already accepted into an accredited four-year institution and the awards were given to students who excelled in areas like academics, extracurricular activities, and community involvement.
“They need to be relatively top student not just academically, but, involved students and at least one parent or guardian (a) graduate of Zanesville High School. They have to have a reference from a teacher; someone that they’re involved in their community group. You know, sometimes maybe their grades aren’t as high but they’ve very involved, outstanding students so its not just grades,” ZHS Alumni Board Member Denise Francis-Primel said.
The recipients were: Logan Young, Michael Durham, Melena Moore,Mia McCarthy, Kyle Johnson, Nichole Witherow, Sara Zigo
Clay Pennington and Katherine Anderson
Francis – Primel also wanted to talk about a large collection of history from the Zanesville School District that the alumni association has in its possession.
“We lease a small room from the Zanesville City School’s Board Office down on Moxahala and what we have from the late 1800’s is all the memorabilia through now whether its fifty years of devilette scrap books, pictures of all of the old schools, you know, uniforms. It’s just a treasure trove of history of the Zanesville City Schools,” Francis – Primel said.
