Spring break makes virtual debut

COVID-19 Local News

MUSKINGUM COUNTY, Ohio- The annual Spring Break from the Muskingum County Chamber of Commerce had its virtual taping this afternoon.

The event was streamed live on Facebook and will air on WHIZ. President of the chamber Dana Matz explained the event.

“We’re filming our virtual spring break event. Spring break is our annual members meeting. Because of our current COVID-19 situation we are doing it virtually… It’s new for us but we’re doing it to enhance the safety of everyone involved. We had over 500 people registered to participate in this even and obviously we can’t do that so we’re sharing the same information that we would have in person.”

Matz gave a rundown of what the event would hold for viewers in terms of information and fun.

“They’ll get to learn more about what the chamber does. A lot of people think we’re a government entity we’re not. We’re an independent business that is in business to support businesses… Spring break it’s festive, we try to make the event fun, it’s the annual meeting for our members. It’s required by our bylaws. It’s an opportunity for us to celebrate the previous year’s investment by local businesses, the successes the businesses had and to recognize our board members.”

The spring break broadcast will air tonight on WHIZ at 7:30 pm.
